My name is Kathryn (Katie) Bycura, and I am a Family Nurse Practitioner board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing.

I completed both my undergraduate and graduate educations at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. I have over ten years of experience in health care, the last eight of which as an advanced practice nurse. I have a varied background which includes experience in family practice, urgent care, gastroenterology and hepatology, and geriatrics. I have worked across the health care spectrum from hospitals to clinics to short-term health rehabilitation centers to home visits.

The focus of my current practice is on helping patients achieve their highest possible level of health and wellness.  While my primary goal would be disease prevention, should it occur, I am passionate about timely and proper diagnosis as well as appropriate management should it become a chronic medical condition.

I am an advocate for patient education and believe true health care cannot be provided in the industry-wide standard 15 minute visit window. I also believe true wellness can only be achieved when you look at the whole patient: body, mind, spirit, and heart.  You also cannot forget the element of the family unit as a whole!

I am a native Austinite and graduate from Westlake High School. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, running, reading, cooking, and being entertained by my Austin Pets Alive! rescues Bear, Finn, and Riley.

  • These are uncertain times for our health care system with each year promising increasing insurance premiums and/or limited insurance plan options. When changing insurances annually, you and your family may have to change practices/providers as well, each year essentially starting from scratch.
  • You deserve to save money on your health! Elect for a higher deductible insurance plan with a lower monthly premium or even look into newer medical co-operatives.
  • Avoid being backed into a corner by being labeled with pre-existing and/or chronic medical conditions which are permanently documented and stored by insurances within your health record – only to later be used against you by insurance underwriters when it is time for insurance renewal or change.
  • Have ONE, consistent, experienced and friendly provider who KNOWS your family, and each individual member’s health status and medical needs. Personalized care where you and your family are known by name, not number.
  • Have easier access to care with my ability to offer extended hours (evenings and weekends) and tele-medicine offerings.
  • Have higher quality care, as I offer longer office visits with enough time to address all your health needs, questions, and concerns.
  • You still have the opportunity to utilize your health insurance benefits for prescriptions, and lab and imaging benefits.
  • In some instances, you may be able to use your annual Family Plan fee as a tax deduction, counting it toward your annual medical expenses. Consult with your tax specialist, of course.

I am offering two plan options, so that you may elect for the plan which best meets you and your family’s needs. Click on the blue button to download the plans.  Please let me know if you have any questions, and I hope to have the opportunity to care for you and those whom you love.

I believe health care needs to be directed away from large multi-level health systems streamlined to be money-making business enterprises with huge profits and, instead – the focus needs to fall back on you, the patient, and your health needs. I choose to challenge the industry-wide standard of a 15 minute health care visit. Health and wellness is a journey, what I call “being the best version of yourself” – and this cannot be contained within such a short allotment of time.
